They say if you want to know a man, walk a mile in his shoes. If you really want to know his marketing challenges stand in his shoes for two days behind a trade show booth. That’s real life marketing intelligence. We do that at MSC, we dig into the challenges (both internal and external) that our clients face and come up with ways that we can help cut through the clutter and get the positive messages out there. Our approach is a little different. Most of our clients start asking what we are doing about the third hour on the hard concrete floor of the trade show. (The ad business charges by the hour….) We integrate ourselves into the daily grind of our clients. In order to be efficient we need to be able speak in the language and understand the culture of our clients. In order to be effective we need to be able to recommend variations on the assignment – or for that matter, a completely different approach to the effort. This requires the trust and respect of a colleague rather than the cold objectivity of an outside firm. (Don’t get us wrong – we’ll let you know what we think – we just do it with bagels and coffee!) Building these relationships is hard work. Only with an uncompromised level of trust and integrity can it be achieved. We work hard every day to earn a return on the fee’s our client’s pay us and we don’t balk at making it right when we make mistakes. Over time these relationships become very profitable to both our clients and MSC. That’s our goal. We are in it for the long haul. |
